New York State’s Veterans Benefits Poster – required as of January 1, 2023

On November 10, 2022, NYS Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation aimed at strengthening protections and support for veterans and their families. Under the amendment, employers with more than 50 full-time equivalent employees will be required to display a poster containing information on veterans’ benefits and services, effective January 1, 2023.


The poster will include the following information regarding services available to veterans:


a. Contact and website information for the division of veterans’ services and the department’s veterans’ program

b. Substance abuse and mental health treatment

c. Educational, workforce, and training resources

d. Tax benefits

e. New York State veteran drivers’ licenses and non-driver identification cards

f. Eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits under state and/or federal law

g. Legal services

h. Contact information for the US Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Crisis Line
