NYC’s Artificial Intelligence Hiring Law Implementation is Delayed

On September 23, 2022, the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) published proposed rules to implement the city’s automated employment decision tools (AEDT) law. At a well-attended hearing on November 4, 2022, including more than 275 attendees, the DCWP was to consider the feedback that was provided at the hearing and issue their final rule.

With the January 1, 2023, effective date of the law approaching, the DCWP announced on December 12, 2022, that it intended to hold a second public hearing and postpone enforcement of the law until April 15, 2023. No date for the public hearing has been provided and PMP will keep you informed as more information becomes available.
